The Walla Walla Immigrant Rights Coalition (WWIRC) works to amplify the strength, resilience, and voices of the immigrant community in the Walla Walla Valley. We envision a community where all immigrants have access to the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.

Through education, advocacy, outreach, direct services, and emergency assistance, WWIRC advances equity and belonging for immigrant families. Our work includes community gatherings, legal services coordination, mutual aid, educational workshops, volunteer engagement, storytelling initiatives, advocacy efforts, and a community helpline.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Support & Operations Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the Walla Walla Immigrant Rights Coalition and plays a critical role in ensuring community members receive timely, compassionate, and effective support. This position is often the first person community members interact with when seeking assistance and is responsible for assessing immediate needs, providing referrals, coordinating follow-up support, and maintaining accurate records of services provided.

The Coordinator balances direct community support with organizational operations. They will manage communications, maintain systems and processes, support program implementation, and help strengthen WWIRC's internal infrastructure as the organization continues to grow.

A significant portion of this role involves building and maintaining relationships with community members over time. The Coordinator will regularly communicate with individuals and families seeking support, connect them to resources, track outcomes, and help identify ongoing or emerging needs within the community.

This position requires someone who is highly organized, proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to work independently. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys building systems, improving processes, and creating structure in a fast-paced and evolving environment. They are comfortable interacting with people from diverse backgrounds, exercising sound judgment, managing confidential information, and responding thoughtfully to urgent situations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Support, Intake & Resource Navigation

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for community members seeking support from WWIRC.

  • Monitor and respond to calls, emails, texts, social media messages, and other inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Conduct initial intake and triage to assess immediate needs and determine appropriate next steps.

  • Provide referrals and connections to community resources, service providers, legal partners, and public benefit programs.

  • Maintain ongoing communication with community members to support follow-through, address barriers, and assess changing needs.

  • Document all community interactions, referrals, services provided, and follow-up activities in organizational databases and tracking systems.

  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive personal and immigration-related information.

  • Stay informed about available community resources, services, and referral partners to ensure accurate and effective navigation support.

  • Identify emerging community needs and communicate trends, concerns, and gaps in services to organizational leadership.

Administrative & Operations Coordination

  • Provide administrative support to WWIRC staff, including scheduling, correspondence, meeting preparation, and document management.

  • Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems.

  • Manage office operations, supplies, equipment, and shared organizational resources.

  • Assist with financial administration, including tracking receipts, invoices, reimbursements, and expense documentation.

  • Support board and committee meetings through scheduling, logistics, note-taking, and follow-up communications.

  • Maintain organizational databases, contact records, and internal systems.

  • Create, improve, and maintain systems and workflows that increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen internal processes and support organizational growth.

Program & Community Engagement Support

  • Assist with the planning and coordination of community meetings, workshops, legal clinics, volunteer activities, and special events.

  • Coordinate event logistics, including registration, interpretation, venue preparation, materials, food, and volunteer support.

  • Support outreach efforts through phone calls, email communications, social media updates, and community engagement activities.

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and communication.

  • Help maintain and update resource guides, educational materials, and outreach content.

Data, Reporting & Organizational Capacity

  • Track program participation, community engagement, and service data.

  • Assist with data entry, program evaluation, and reporting requirements.

  • Support grant reporting by gathering stories, statistics, and program outcomes.

  • Help maintain organizational policies, procedures, and administrative systems.

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of community services and organizational activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).

  • Commitment to immigrant justice, equity, and community-centered work.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

  • Experience working with diverse populations and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and online communication tools.

  • Reliable transportation and the ability to attend occasional evening or weekend community events.

Preferred

  • Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, community-based, or social service settings.

  • Experience with client intake, community navigation, case management support, or resource referral systems.

  • Experience coordinating volunteers, events, or community programs.

  • Familiarity with immigrant communities and issues impacting immigrant families.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS

  • Part-time position averaging 25–30 hours per week.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $23.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience.
